Evolution Cane Corso

Orgin:

The Cane Corso is an ancient breed. The Cane Corso ( also known as the Italian Mastiff) can be traced back as far as the Roman Empire. Cane Corsos are the decendents of the ancient Roman Molossur. The Cane Corso has its origin in Italy. It was originally used in the hunting of large wild animals and also as a war dog. Eventaully it was used as protector of the farm and the family. The Cane Corso was also used to drive farm animals to market or to the slaughter house. For years now the Cane Corso has been a loyal and loving family companion and protector.

The term Cane Corso is said to come from the latin word COHORS which means "guard of the courtyard".

Physical Characteristics:

It has a very broad and deep muzzle with a slight under bite.

The Cane Corso is a large dog, being very strong and compact. It has a short coat that requires very little grooming.

Colors:

The standard allows "black, black-red, chestnut, fawn, blue or any of these colors with brindling." White markings may appear on the chest, neck, chin and the tips of the toes. White on any other part of the body, including the face, is a disqualification. Eye color corresponds to coat color and may range from black to hazel.

Socialization:

Despite the breed's size, they make excellent housedogs. The Cane Corso definitely needs socialization, and it is strongly urge that owners obedience train their dogs. Properly raised and trained, the breed is suspicious of strangers, but wonderful with the family. When raised correctly, the dog should be submissive to all members of the family, including children.
